If you are a resident of an urban area (a city or town) and already have access to a piped water supply, you are not the direct beneficiary of this specific scheme, as its focus is purely on rural households. Community participation through Gram Sabhas (village assemblies) is crucial for accountability and transparency. Raise concerns and suggestions here. 4. DWSM Meetings: Regular monthly meetings of the District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) review drinking water supply and sanitation services. Your local representatives will participate in these. To get a connection, you usually don't apply online as an individual. You should approach your Gram Panchayat or local water committee. They will include your household in the plans for new connections based on the mission's targets for your village.

The Jal Jeevan Mission aims to achieve its goal by 2026. This means that the focus on new connections and infrastructure development is ongoing. While there isn't a strict 'application deadline' for individual households, the mission is actively working towards universal coverage. The Phase I of JJM is planned from 2021 to 2026. Therefore, if you are in a rural area without a tap connection, you should engage with your local authorities sooner rather than later to ensure your household is included in the upcoming phases of work in your village.
